Susie Baker

Originally from Scotland, Susie Baker has been living in Kaikōura since 2006 and makes interesting images using light in her garden, studio and darkroom. Susie has been experimenting with alternative photographic processes for 20 years, after being inspired by her art school tutor who introduced her to early sun printing techniques. These techniques where among the first ways of making images using light, that Susie still works with today.  Many of her works are still made on traditional black and white fibre-based papers, Susie experiments with chemicals in the darkroom, manipulating the images to create unique artworks, these manipulated marks can reflect the spirit or mood of an object or place.
